Our involvement in “Everdale” presented a distinct set of challenges right from the start. When Supercell’s lead animator had to step back for personal reasons, our team was entrusted to temporarily bolster the animation department during this pivotal period. Balancing these added responsibilities while also managing our in-house production was a hard exercise in strategic management. Establishing robust communication and workflow with programmers, artists, and riggers was key to maintaining project momentum and quality.

Over two and a half years, we got deep into the world of “Everdale.” We worked on all sorts of animations, from the villagers to the animals and spirits, making sure everything clicked with the gameplay and the fun, quirky vibe of the game. Our collaborative spectrum also included regular check-ins with Ocellus-Studio in France, helping another team of animators stay on the same page.

The Supercell team really appreciated our work, saying it added a lively touch to the game and made it more fun for the players. Unfortunately, in October 2022, Supercell made the strategic decision to cease the development of “Everdale.”

The “Everdale” journey was more than just a project for us at Patagon Digital; it was a chapter of immense growth and the catalyst that truly set our studio in motion. The responsibility to step up and integrate seamlessly with the Supercell team pushed us to hone our skills, adapt quickly to challenges, and showcase our resilience. This was particularly evident as we navigated through various technical adjustments, ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Every meeting, every animation, and every shared joke contributed to a unique camaraderie and a deep sense of belonging to a bigger creative ensemble. Though the project eventually came to an end, the impact it had on us is everlasting. We’re grateful for the trust placed in us and the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant world of “Everdale,” and we carry forward the lessons learned, and the relationships built, hopeful for future collaborations and excited for what lies ahead.
